Resistance from the Right tells the story of the New Right when they were college students, years before their political careers took off in the 1970s. It covers well-known conservative and right-wing activists (including Newt Gingrich, David Duke, Karl Rove, Jeff Sessions, Bill Barr, and others) during their time on campus in the 1960s. Shepherd shows how they cut their political teeth doing battle with the New Left, and used the lessons they learned to reshape the Republican Party—and American higher education.

“Riveting. This book was impossible to put down, and impossible to forget.”
— Brandi Ortiz, award-winning writer
